Fall Dining Room Makeover 2021

fall dining room makeover 2021

It may not feel like fall here in the Midwest yet but that didn’t stop me from fall decorating. This year I started in the dining room and decided on a new theme and look. I wanted something more rustic and natural this year. I only purchased a few things and everything else was repurposed. That’s what I love, using what you have and adding just a few things for a new look.

My first step is always a custom table runner. A custom table runner is an easy way to give a decorator’s look to a design. The personalized placemats were also new this year as they matched my new theme and my personalized napkins and rings are always on my table. A pumpkin at each place setting will make a unique place card with a simple name tag tied to it. I decided on this candle display from Rae Dunn that I found at HomeGoods as the centerpiece instead of the usual tall-tiered tray. The glow of the candles is so pretty at night. Adding potted olive trees and herbs created the natural look that I was looking for. I decided not to add any colorful mums this year. The plants were also new. The colorful mums were repurposed in another part of the house. Glass pumpkins from Pier 1 were the only hint of orange in this year’s display. The mason jars from Initial Outfitters were also new this year. These will be used year-round. Taking my extra pumpkins and sunflowers I filled in the empty spaces of the table.

I’m really happy with the finished product and look. It is so easy to create the same looks year after year and I knew this year I was looking for something different. To me, it is a very soothing and relaxing room to spend time in. What do you think?

Until next week,

Carrie

Spring Dining Table Makeover

spring dining table makeover

One of my favorite things to do is to change the decor on my dining table each season and holiday. The dining table is usually the focal point of any dining room.  After the holiday season, I just leave it very simple until spring. But now, it’s spring, and time to get my spring decor on. I am going with a fresh and soft look mixed with greenery. Simple and pretty, just like spring. The days are getting longer and life seems to take a slower pace after the holiday season. I am looking forward to planting flowers, vegetables, and enjoying walks in the evening. But, back to the decor.

I think an easy way to create a custom designer look without the designer price tag is with personalized pieces. Everything I used was pieces I already had in my collection, reuse and repurpose.  I always start with a personalized table runner from Initial Outfitters. I have these in many different embroidery colors, and a table runner is a great way to tie the look together. I went with my white one this spring, many times I use a sage green, but wanted a change this year.

Starting with a white tray from the Lilly Pulitzer for Target collection in the middle and adding a lantern from Pier 1 is the centerpiece. Hydrangeas are my very favorite flower and these tall vases look perfect on either side of my centerpiece. These vases get so much use, and I move them around all year. Like I said, reuse and repurpose. It just gives a fresh look to a room repurposing and moving pieces around. My husband always asks if I bought something new. No, just moved it around.

I love the little grass squares, and there are so many uses for these. The green breaks up the long table runner. Birds are a sure sign of spring, and these little topiaries look perfect on the green grass pieces. A couple of bunnies, moss balls, and architectural pieces finish the center. I added personalized placemats, napkins, and napkin rings all from Initial Outfitters to finish the look.

I think the look is perfect for spring. Not too busy and cluttered, just bright and fresh. The next part, this whole look cost me only a little time. I had all of the pieces, and I just pulled them all together to create a brand new look. I hope you enjoy it.

Happy Spring,

Carrie

Holiday Dining Room Sparkle

It’s that time of year again, time to deck the halls. If you are like me, you deck every room in your house. I really enjoy decorating for the holidays even though it may not always seem that way when doing it. The results are always worth the craziness and mess. I think I am covered in glitter for months.

My dining room is my favorite room to decorate. You have so many options in which to decorate the table. I tend to do a different color scheme or theme in each room. A snowy, sparkling winter wonderland was my theme this year. A furry table runner was the starting point. Adding a sleigh, hurricanes with gold candles, and the various trees give the long table some height. I like to add little touches like pearls and crystal jewels. It just adds to the sparkle. Ornaments and deer finish off the tablescape. A proper place setting always looks beautiful on a table. I found all of these chargers and dinner plates at DollarTree. The smaller plates were from Pier 1 They are perfect. Adding a spring of greenery around a napkin brings a little bit of a natural element in.

To finish the room I display my collection of Spode dishes on a table. I created a new wreath with an antler wooden cutout from Initial Outfitters by Carrie. I painted it in holographic paint added it to a wreath with a few accessories and hung it in a window. There is also a small strand of lights in it and when it is lit the holographic paint really sparkles. I hung another banner in the other window as well. My china cabinet is decked out with a pretty garland. A beautiful joy sign to remind us to be joyful this season and ornaments, pearls, and jewels complete the look.

The dining room really comes alive at night with the lights off and just the glow of all of the candles and accent lighting. It really is beautiful. Happy decorating.

Five Minute Fall Decor

Fall is finally here and it’s time to bring in the warm colors of fall into our home decor. Does the thought of changing out your decor stress you out especially with the holiday season right around the corner? Do you skip decorating for fall altogether? What if I could help you decorate a room in five minutes with five accessories? Sounds easy, right? It really is with a few perfect pieces.

Let me show you my kitchen refresh for fall. Clearing out the summer decor and pineapple placemats and accessories were the first steps. It’s nice to start with a clear space to really see all of the possibilities. I love bringing in some warm-colored pieces and buffalo plaid prints are some of my favorites. I switched out my pineapple placemats for a gray buffalo plaid with a pumpkin personalized with our name for our counter eating area. Personalized pieces are a quick and easy way to achieve a high-end designer look. These are pieces you won’t see in everyone’s kitchen and on every store shelf. Mixing patterns is always a great idea, pieces don’t always need to match, they just need to go together.

With that thought, I used personalized black placemats on the kitchen table to coordinate with my napkins and napkin rings. It all pairs nicely. A pumpkin soup tureen from Pier 1 became a pretty centerpiece. My napkin holder is a Nora Fleming piece. I love her pieces because you only need to switch the minis to create a new look. Their collection contains minis for every holiday, season, and occasion. I highly recommend them. A fall candle and fresh flowers complete the table. Fresh flowers are always a must in my house.

Kitchen Table Refresh

The last few changes were simple. I always have a personalized cutting board on my counter and I just switched it out for the same pumpkin style as my kitchen counter placemats. A Mackenzie-Childs pumpkin and fall candle add to the display. Switching my summer kitchen towels for pretty fall ones was the last step in the kitchen refresh. Towels are such an easy way to achieve a quick change. Normally I add garland to the windows but decided to leave them out this year. I wanted a clean, uncluttered look.

What do you think? I really did just do this refresh in just five minutes with five accessories. Room designs don’t have to be complicated, sometimes less is more. I really enjoy the simple uncluttered look before the holiday decorating begins. Enjoy the crisp fall weather and changing colors.
